    Recycled polystyrene panels

An Australian company, Quik'n Tuff Pty Ltd, has developed a light-weight composite panel made of recycled polystyrene blended with concrete and alkaline-resistant glass fibre mesh. The finished product – named Conpolcrete – is fire-resistant and is suitable for external walls in residential and commercial buildings. Currently, Quik’n Tuff, from Acacia Ridge, Queensland, sources the polystyrene from local manufacturers of refrigeration panels and architectural panels. The plastic was previously dumped in a landfill site.
