    ABASIC increases fused minerals output

Abadan Silicon Carbide and Aluminum Oxide Complex (ABASIC), Iran, says it intends to significantly raise production of fused minerals. ABASIC is a recently established producer of silicon carbide (SiC) and fused alumina. It produces SiC for metallurgical, abrasive and refractory markets and fused alumina for the latter two markets. It has a total production capacity of 50 kt a year, but has only completed phase one of the plant and currently produces 10 kt a year. The company says it intends to expand this to 12–18 kt a year over the next three years.
