Aastrom Biosciences expands US bone graft trial

Aastrom Biosciences Inc is expanding its lead US clinical trial of its bone generation tissue repair cell (TRC) product, based on research into stem cells. Stem cells are human cells that are able to form multiple, or in some cases, all types of tissues. They therefore represent potentially powerful agents for repairing damaged or diseased tissues. Stem cells are found in every individual’s bone marrow and researchers regard access as simple. The search for potential novel treatments for a wide variety of diseases and disorders is leading them to investigate bone marrow-derived adult stem cells in their clinical research.
