Wear resistant reinforced aluminium
Adal Group Inc, USA, have developed a metal matrix composite (MMC) made of aluminium reinforced with titanium carbide (TiC) particulates. Components made from the MMC, which is called Ticalium, are said to have high strength, hardness and wear resistance.
