    Simulation shows self healing zirconium oxide

    A computer simulation developed by the US Department of Energy’s (DoE’s) Pacific Northwest Laboratory (PNNL) has revealed a self-healing behaviour in yttriastabilized zirconium oxide (zirconia), which may lead to development of radiation-resistant materials for nuclear power plants and waste storage.
